5.8.1. Caliper
Caliper is a performance analysis tool that can be used for applications running on HP-UX versions based on the Itanium Processor Family (IPF). This is a very good tool to use for performance analysis of programs on IPF-based systems. It replaces the Puma and CXperf tools. Caliper allows one to measure various low-level details of a program such as cache misses, branch mispredictions, and total cycles. A full description of this tool is found in Chapter 13 ”Application Profiling” in Section 14.1, ”Caliper” on page 436.
