Background on HP-UX 11i Operating Environments
New with HP-UX 11i are Operating Environments. These are grouping of software provided by HP that are integrated, tested and supported by HP. There are the five operating environments at the time of this writing:
Basic HP-UX OE
Enterprise HP-UX OE
Mission Critical HP-UX OE
Minimal Technical OE
Technical Computing OE
You can expect these OEs to change over time as the needs of 11i users change but these are the five OEs available at the time of this writing. The following two tables (2-1 and 2-2) show high level contents of the three commercial OEs and two technical OEs respectively:
