Configuring a LAN adapter is the first step toward connecting any HP-UX system to a network. There may be one or more LAN adapters installed in a system. HP-UX recognizes an adapter with a name of the form lanx where x is an integer. Many device drivers for LAN adapters are built into the HP-UX kernel.
