Obviously one of the most crucial aspects of starting a conversation is your opening – the question or statement that you initially make to start a conversation.

With fear reduced or out of the way, the next common barrier that people have is what to say to start a conversation. We've already explored some environmental and other situation-based openings. Now let's look at openings in general and how, once you have started with an opening, you can engage the other person further and spot the signs that they are engaged in your conversation.
