In Summary: Make Them Aids, Not Ailments

Visual aids are integral with presentations. Good visuals can add greatly to presentation success, and computer technology has brought high-quality graphics capability out of the realm of graphics designers only and onto office desktops.

As Shakespeare wrote 400 years ago, "To see sad sights moves more than hear them told." That's the basic premise of why we use visual aids. The caveat is that we will see those favorable results when we make sure our visual "sad [or happy] sights" are well prepared and used.
