Part II
The generic process in one key lifecycle stage
Part II elaborates the seven phase generic process framework of the basic PUMP outlined in Chapter 4. It uses one chapter for each phase, Chapters 5 to 11.
As indicated in Part I, a number of drivers should shape any uncertainty management process. It follows that any detailed PUMP description must assume a position in relation to each of these drivers. Each chapter in Part II assumes a focus on the E&D shaping stage – the execution and delivery strategy development stage of the project lifecycle. Part III will relax this lifecycle stage assumption, and consider the additional issues raised by designing and operating an efficient and effective PUMP pack for the whole of the project lifecycle.
In addition, each chapter in Part II makes further common initial assumptions about drivers, such as the need for a high clarity PUMP, but later explores alternative assumptions.
