Reinhold Messner was the first person to successfully climb Mount Everest solo (in 1980). Do you know why? Because he’s a nutter! Actually, he’s widely regarded as the greatest climber of all time, so I thought I would find out more about him. It turns out that when he climbed Everest solo, he had a brilliant team of people helping with the planning, research and setting up for the climb.
So, step one is, even if you a supremely good at something, you still have to surround yourself with the right people.
