An employer will be using ability measures and personality questionnaires to find out broadly how someone will cope with the particular intellectual demands of a job on the one hand, and how they will conduct themselves in approaching tasks, interacting with others and perhaps dealing with pressure on the other. In order to make these interpretations, your performance will usually be compared with that of a ‘norm group’ of others.
