‘Team type’ questionnaires

Work by Dr Meredith Belbin has shown that groups are most productive when there is a good mixture of people who can contribute various skills to the team. The organisation will analyse the members of the existing team. The ‘team type’ questionnaire is then used and your results are analysed manually or by software to see how you fit in.

None of the team types is the ‘best’ type to be – productive teams have a mix of the different types. The following summary describes the various team types.

  • Plant – creative, imaginative, unorthodox. Solves difficult problems. Weak in communicating with and managing ordinary people.
