Skill and aptitude tests

Unlike personality questionnaires, skill and aptitude tests are designed to test you against standards. Typing tests are used to evaluate your keyboard skills and typing accuracy. Tests of manual dexterity, such as rebuilding a broken-down model, assess your ‘motor skills’.

Others represent an intellectual challenge: numerical, verbal and abstract reasoning tests. The score from the tests is compared against ‘norm’ tables to see how you have performed, compared with previous groups of people who have taken the test.

If you’re going to be asked to take a test it will be on a PC or on-line and possibly before you are invited for interview.
