CHAPTER 23

Stop Reading and Start Speaking

TIP 113: Practice in a feedback-rich environment.

While writing this book, I studied TED videos. A lot of TED videos. In the same way that watching many episodes of Iron Chef will not make you a gourmet cook, watching many great speakers will not make you a great speaker. Reading a library of books on public speaking will not make you a great speaker either. The only way to conquer your fear and hone your speaking skills is to practice in a feedback-rich environment.
