As a trainer helping facilitate the change to a teambased culture, you need to understand the conflict between your organization's need for change and an individual's need for security. Initially, people tend to resist the SDWT idea because they perceive it as a threat. Supervisors often must accept non-supervisory roles, and some view that as a demotion. Similarly, frontline workers who have taken direction for many years may feel uncomfortable when given extra responsibility. You must lead the people through the change process and help them overcome their fears.
