On the top floor of the Tate Modern Art Gallery in London is a meeting room with a magnificent view over the River Thames and down into the open circle of the reconstructed Globe Theatre nearby. Here, at a gathering of senior administrators who fund digital library projects internationally, one of the authors stood up to introduce himself and ended by announcing that he was writing a book entitled How to Build a Digital Library.
