Advanced Networking Strategies

Before delving into the advanced strategies in Part III, let’s touch on the subject of technology. As we all know, technology continues to change at warp speed. Today’s wireless gadgets quickly become tomorrow’s recycled trash. None of these tools will stop evolving long enough for a professional networker to build his or her entire strategic program around them without appearing “out of touch” within a very short time. That’s the downside. The upside is that technology allows us to expedite the flow of information to a much larger number of prospects in a much shorter period of time.

However, while some folks believe they can use text messages and social media to build relationships, network marketing has always functioned on the concept of relationship marketing. We believe that relationships can be much deeper and more trusting when people communicate face-to-face; that there will always be a need to form actual social groups, to interact in person or on the telephone in real time. If technology ever replaces face-to-face, word-of-mouth, or relationship marketing, network marketing will cease to exist very shortly thereafter. Why would a company pay independent business owners half of every dollar to recruit and retail if they can move their products and services through distribution channels and pay minimum wages to a handful of people?
