Which Part of the Bank Are We Talking About?

From the trading floor’s perspective, all roads lead to Rome. This chapter will describe the different parts of a bank, how they relate to each other and in particular how all banking activity eventually leads to the trading floor. The first step is to be able to distinguish between the different types of bankers that main street sees as all the same. In fact, within banks, people on the trading floor don’t refer to themselves as bankers at all. That term is reserved for investment bankers, relationship bankers and generally anyone associated with lending or retail banking.
