About the author

Peter Spiegel is the Brussels bureau chief for the Financial Times, overseeing the global business newspaper’s coverage of the European economic crisis and Europe’s role in global affairs. In 2012 and 2013, Peter and his team won Society of American Business Writers and Editors awards for their coverage of the eurozone debt crisis.

Peter returned to the FT in August 2010 after spending nearly five years in Washington covering national security and military affairs for the Los Angeles Times and the Wall Street Journal. In both jobs, Peter had a special focus on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
