Lucky are those who were parented well, for they have been handed a legacy, a bone knowledge of how to parent their children well. But the rest of us, all who received uneven parenting by our birth parents or any adults who were caring for us when we were young, have a job to do. We need to sort the helpful from the unhelpful, keep the helpful, and figure out how to replace the unhelpful parenting skills and beliefs.
Our job is to stop overindulging children.
