How CableCARD Works

Two-Way CableCARDS?

The current generation of CableCARDs are one-way devices—that is, they receive and decode data streams downloaded to your Media Center PC, but cannot send data back upstream to the cable company. This means that today’s Media Center PCs cannot display your cable company’s interactive program guide (they display media Center’s EPG, instead) or provide pay-per-view or video on demand programming. Next-generation CableCARDs will offer this two-way functionality and the associated interactive services.
