Chapter 12. The Vista Desktop

THE Windows desktop is the home base for all Windows users. Everything you need is there, from the Start menu to the taskbar to any icons you place on the desktop itself. (And that’s not even mentioning the pretty pictures most people use for their desktop backgrounds.)

With Windows Vista, the desktop is different, in some subtle and not-so-subtle ways. For example, the look and feel of the Start menu and the taskbar have changed to reflect the Vista Aero interface; they’re both just a little bit translucent.
