How ClearType Works

ClearType Limitations

ClearType is only used for the display of text onscreen; it is not used for text printed on paper. In addition, ClearType’s antialiasing technology works best on LCD screens, due to the rectangular pixel grid used on these displays. The effect is minimal (and often off-putting) on traditional CRT-type monitors, which align their round pixels in a triangular shape.
