Configuration Details

This chapter deals with ways to configure and customize Houdini. There are many, many ways to do this, from the way it looks to hotkeys to the default environment you are presented with when you start it up. And customization doesn’t just apply to the individual user, either – you can set up different environments for different shots, or sequences or whatever.

Houdini Startup

When Houdini starts up, it reads a file called 123.cmd, which contains hscript commands, and executes the contents. The default location for this file is $HFS/houdini/scripts, but you can put your own custom version in your home directory. Houdini will use the version in your home directory, if there is one there.
