Paul Roscoe was a 72-year-old businessman enjoying an active retirement, traveling extensively, and engaging in a number of community projects. Without warning, over a period of a week, Mr. Roscoe’s skin became noticeably yellow, his urine turned a dark brown, and he developed a severe itch. Alarmed, he sought the counsel of his internist, Dr. Myron Stein.
