Wireless Network Hardware: Nuts, Bolts, and Waves

Wireless networks are somewhat easier to install than wired networks. They're also a bit easier to plan because you can usually add more PCs or other devices to a wireless network without worrying about running out of available ports.

NOTE

To keep things just a bit easier on you, the wireless networking selections throughout the remainder of this book are based on the 802.11g standard. This equipment generally provides the best blend of performance, cost, and compatibility; 802.11g has also become the de facto standard in wireless equipment being developed and evolved these days.
