In the preceding chapter X10 control devices were used to turn things on and off, and to dim lights and lamps. The existing house wiring played only a modest role in that chapter as to what could be done with home automation. In this chapter we move beyond one-location on/off/dim control points to installing and using UPB controls in more complex wiring situations where indoor or outdoor lighting fixtures must be controlled from more than a single location. This part of the project requires you to have an understanding of your existing home wiring.
