Lesson 6: Use WBSs as a Basis for Estimation and Planning
Hollywood devotes extensive preproduction time to planning. The script serves as the foundation for this planning. Production managers and assistant directors analyze the script and break it down into ordered segments. From this comes the "strip board," which is used to identify various production needs, such as number of locations, number of night scenes, need for special equipment or effects, types of costumes, numbers of extras, and so on.
