Case in Point: Thoughtmill
Thoughtmill was an Atlanta-area software services company founded in the 1990s. It took on many types of work, but it specialized in Web-based e-commerce applications. The late 1990s were a great time for companies like Thoughtmill; business was going gangbusters. That soured quickly, though, with the dot-com crash of 2001. The company shrank down to a small set of employees and was then acquired by a large systems integration company, American Systems Corporation (ASC).
