Both the intelligence and the effort that has gone into building many of the new high technologies that touch our lives are impressive. Looking back, it is amazing how far the functionality of the personal computer, the cell phone, and the Internet have advanced in a relatively short period of time. What has not advanced as quickly for these technologies is the ease of use and the security. (If you think that some of these technologies are still hard to use, then just imagine how bad the security of these technologies can be! Consider that we have made more progress and spent more time on making technology easier to use than we spend on making technology secure.)
