While we all make mistakes, we don't spend enough time learning from them. Obviously, not all hacking investigations end successfully. Bad luck and sloppy work are the leading causes of failure. While there is not much that can be done to improve your luck, perhaps reviewing the mistakes of others can help you prevent your own.
