What Is a High-Tech Crime?
Many people think of high-tech crime as either computer hacking or computer viruses. These are certainly some of its forms, but they really aren't a very good way to define them overall. A much broader definition of a high-tech crime is that the criminal uses technology in the commission of a crime, or a criminal attacks technology and makes it the target of the crime. This fairly simple definition actually covers a lot of ground. Basically, high-tech crimes are merely improvements on common low-tech crimes, but are carried out with or against technology.
