The very first thing that you need to do is discover the extent to which your identification has been used by fraudsters. This is a very difficult thing to do, and currently there is no single agency in charge of finding out for you. First, you will want to report that you are the victim of identity theft to the police. You should also look to the Federal Trade Commission's website at http://www.consumer.gov for the ID theft affidavit and other tips.
