  • Notify victim agencies and institutions.

  • Patch the damage done, including the removal of hacker backdoors.

  • Uncover the techniques used to prevent future attacks.

  • Ascertain the amount of data that leaked out.

  • Stop his behavior and possibly put him away.

With the data collected from the search and the subpoena, both groups had more than enough to start notifying victims and patching the damage.
