Chapter 5

Measurement and data acquisition techniques

Tools and methods used to validate that a design meets the high-speed system design specifications are examined in this chapter. It provides information, such as the minimum bandwidth and accuracy requirements of test equipment, as well as the effects that test equipment has on high-speed measurements. Detailed calibration procedures to remove the unwanted equipment effects are discussed. The chapter also shows how to set up a PCIe spec compliance validation test bench designed for highly efficient data acquisition and analysis.
