Part I. Image Files and Formats

This first part of this book focuses on the core knowledge you need before we dive into image loading in the second part. It includes discussions on color theory, image types, formats, and image capabilities. Unfortunately, there isn’t a single solution for digitally encoding images. Understanding these complexities and the many image use cases is important before we address image loading. Depending on your familiarity with these subjects, you might be tempted to skip over some chapters and jump straight to Part II. That’s fine. These chapters are intended to be used as a reference and to help you navigate the complexities of bringing high-quality images to your users.
