There has never been a book like this one, in its interleaving of electronics and audio, engineering ideality, and musical and practical reality. There haven’t actually been many books dedicated to audio amplifiers, period. On any level.

Beginning with the electronics, amplifiers for driving loudspeakers are actually rather hard. So hard, that after 75 years, there is not a lot of convergence – not compared to say washing machines, which are similarly old. In spite of a century of consumerism, Music remains on a higher, primal level that interfaces with levels of human perception that precede and can outstep the logical.
