Individual Performance Improvement Plans

When an employee’s performance does not meet expectations, development plans can be created—either through the performance management process or as a separate document. Such plans identify the development that needs to occur and the competency to which the development relates. In general, the more specific each item on the development plan is—particularly in respect to what acceptable performance “looks like”—the more likely it is that the person will be able to model the competency at the required level.
