Frame rates and scanning

27.1 Frame rates

The F900 camera can be set to run at eight frame rates: five are progressive scan and three are interlace. The first three to consider are those that replicate conventional film shooting rates. They are:

•   24 fps progressive scan – exactly replicates the cinema projection rate.

•   25 fps progressive scan – exactly replicates the frame rate used when shooting film for European television using the PAL transmission system.

•   30 fps progressive scan – exactly replicates the frame rate used for shooting high quality commercials in the USA.

The next two progressive scan frame rates are exclusively for use when replicating film shot for television, and when it will only ever be shown on the US NTSC ...
