Network Calculations for an Enterprise Network

By carefully looking at the RBD in Figure 8-2, you can determine that everything to the left of the OC-3 component will be calculated as Building 1. The right side of the OC-3 component will be Building 2. In the calculations for each site, we must also include the fact that the routers between the two sites are in a redundant configuration. Our first step in the network calculations will be to calculate the redundancy of the parallel components at each site. Once we have the parallel component results, we can perform our end-to-end serial calculations for each site. Each of those calculations will have their results affected by the power availability for the site.
