The Divide-and-Conquer Steps

When we begin to study the availability inherent in a complex network, we quickly notice that there are various different scenarios. Voice over IP (VoIP) networks have scenarios that are easy to see. A person making a telephone call to the house next door will utilize a completely different network than a person making a telephone call across the country.

The first step to using the divide-and-conquer method is to recognize that more than one scenario exists on the network in question. Once you have decided that there are multiple scenarios, you are ready to begin using the divide-and-conquer algorithm.
