Including Human Error and Process in Availability Calculations

One of the more difficult concepts to include in availability predictions is the human error contribution to network downtime. This concept is not difficult to believe. It is not even particularly difficult to measure when it does happen. The difficulty arises when we attempt to predict these mistakes in advance. Of course, human error normally occurs when standard operations processes allow it to happen. A company process that mitigates human errors is a mainstay for highly available networks.
