Summary

In order to compute serial/parallel system or network availability, you need to follow a process. The example in this chapter was a simple version of a process called the divide-and-conquer process, which will be covered in Chapter 5. The two key concepts that you should take away from this chapter are that availability analysis requires careful consideration about how the serial and parallel equations are applied to networks. Each system or network segment requires the application of the equations to be broken into logical steps.
