ONLINE RESOURCES

ONE OF THE BEST WAYS TO LEARN about the world of advertising is to bookmark the good websites that are out there. Some are blogs, some are rants, and some are just cool places to look at new work.

I surveyed my ad friends, asking them what their favorite online resources are. They were all nice enough to return e-mails positively glowing with underlined links in blue type ready to whisk me into the ether. I went down the rabbit hole and must have studied 200 or 300 of them by the time I realized that trying to publish a list of the best sites (on paper, in a book, at least) would suck. The online world constantly changes, and any working Web address I list here today may return a “Can’t find server” message tomorrow. You’ll also find that a single address is enough to get you started, because most of the sites (the blogs, anyway) include a list of favorite links; one attaches to another like coat hangers at the bottom of your closet. Grab one and you get the rest.

I have my favorites posted on my blog roll at heywhipple.com. They’re as good a place to start as any.
