Reporting

Generating reports from EHRs is a key use of the systems for clinical care, compliance, and business operations. Meaningful use has dramatically increased the importance of all aspects of such reporting. Specifically, all EHRs must qualify for certification based on their ability to generate reports on the actual use of the system for critical areas such as e-prescribing, CPOE, documenting patient demographics, and reporting vital signs. Both integrated systems from a single vendor and homegrown or best-of-breed systems must demonstrate the ability to collect and report on all of the meaningful use objectives.
