Although CDS has significant potential to improve care, when designed and implemented incorrectly, it has the potential to misguide clinicians and introduce error. Instead of individual clinicians making isolated mistakes in care, broadly implemented CDS systems can impact multiple users, with the potential of both positive and negative patient outcomes.
