Home Folders

Home folders (also called modal order entry windows) are the screens that come up initially when a physician wants to place an order. In some of the initial EHRs, these screens consisted of no more than a search window, requiring that every order or order set be typed out, character by character. Most EHRs have now evolved to include the ability to search on the first few characters (making searching faster and easier), as well as allowing users to build “favorites” folders, which include their most common orders or order sets.
