Roles and Professional Background of People Working in Healthcare Organizations

There are many healthcare professional roles active in even a moderately sized hospital or a large physician office practice. The following are just a few key professional roles with brief descriptions of each role.

Physicians

Physicians are doctors of medicine (MD) or osteopathy (DO) who have graduated from medical school. Following medical school, they almost always serve as an intern for an additional year and then as a resident for two years or longer beyond internship.
