Over the course of decades and millions of projects, a set of management disciplines and processes has been developed to help ensure that projects succeed. This collected set of practices is referred to as project management. You can see these disciplines and processes in action in any well-run project. Excellent project management does not ensure project success; however, without such project management, the risks of failure skyrocket, particularly for large projects.
