Author Biography

Philip J. Cianci joined Philips Laboratories, Briarcliff Manor, New York, as a research assistant in 1984 and worked on HDTV prototype systems including the Grand Alliance prototype MPEG-2 Video Decoder. He participated in the NIST ATP Digital Studio Project and managed the commissioning of a Video Simulation Infrastructure, a precursor of a server-based HDTV digital broadcast operations center.

Working overnights at AT&T Digital Media Center in lower Manhattan during 2002 facilitated his initiation to the broadcast operations side of the TV business.
