Learning to See

Just as when learning to play a musical instrument, we need to retrain ourselves when learning photography. With music, our hands are learning unfamiliar formations and movements. At first they seem impossible, but with a little practice our hands and fingers adjust. With photography, it’s our eyes and brain that need retraining. We need to learn to ignore some things and recognize others. While our eyes shape our perception of the scene, the camera captures it, so a familiarity with the way the camera sees is paramount.
