Monetizing New Content Delivery Models

The purpose of this chapter is to go over the various successful ways that podcasts and video blogs are being monetized (MBA-speak for making money) today. And even if your podcast is not for profit, or is a marketing or PR initiative for an existing company, the concepts of audience scale, targeting, and advertising discussed here will apply.

You may not have money in mind in starting a podcast. Fame, artistic achievement, entertainment, marketing, PR, a desire to get a message out may be the real reasons behind your efforts. But, even if you have the money and resources to continue to feed and house your podcast, you may ultimately want it to grow up and start making a living on its own.
