Artifact: Something in an audio or video file that wasn’t there in the first place. Artifacts are introduced by audio and video streaming codecs, or by the conversion process between video or audio formats.
Aspect Ratio: The ratio of the width to the height of a video frame. Standard definition video uses a 4:3 aspect ratio. Widescreen video uses a 16:9 aspect ratio.
BOC (Broadcast Operations Center): Where webcast distribution takes place. If raw audio and video feeds are sent back to the BOC, encoding can take place here.
Broadband: Any non-dial-up Internet connection, generally assumed to be above 200 kbps.
Cache: An area used to temporarily store information. On a computer this can be in high-speed RAM memory as opposed to a hard-drive. ...
